Back and shoulder pain

Hi,

I have a pinching pain in the right side of my lower back. The pain travels down into my legg. It gets worse when I squat or dead lift. Also, if I press in that area it feels tender/hurts. Any ideas what this is?

Similar thing near my shoulder blade, but not as bad and seems to be under control.

Ugh....

Thanks.

Re: Back and shoulder pain

I am no means an expert but it sounds nerve related if it start at your lower back and runs down your leg.

I would try rolling/massaging/stretching in the area where it feels tender. Most of the time if you have a pinched/impinged nerve or you will need to endure a little pain during the massage to loosen things up. I would also stretch your glutes and hamstrings just to rule that stuff out.

Its definitely right side correct? I only ask because your psiatic nerve runs in between a couple different muscles in your left buttock and causes similar symptoms when your muscles are tight in that area.

For the shoulder blade I would massage/stretch the traps, shoulders and neck.

How long have you had the pain?

See this wfs

It SOUNDS like you may have a bulging disc with some peripheral sciatica...

I would recommend getting it checked out by a doc.

Shoulder... eh. There's a bunch of threads on this.

Lotta of the stuff in here will likely help:

Massage deep tissue is most likely to help.

Fix posture, loosen tight muscles, get moving properly, etc....

That sounds bad (lower back) ... maybe ill call my doc. I read the article that you sent and bulging disks are associated with pain around the spine, which I have none of. I just have pain on the right side of my lower back. It feels very tender in one spot if I press it.
