Re: Pre workout snack

Usually takes me 25 minutes to get home, and then another 10 or so to prepare dinner. I always preferred bringing my shake with me because I was able to consume something immediately after. What would you recommend I eat post wod? Usually dinner consists of 6oz chicken, maybe a medium size sweet potato (sometimes i'll skip this), and some medley of vegetables (broccoli, spinach, green beans, romaine lettuce, etc.)

Marcus, what exactly is your training goal? What is your age, height, and current body weight?

Re: Pre workout snack

18, 155lbs. I have lean muscular build, not sure what bodyfat% but around 12% I would assume (maybe a little more). At the moment, I would like to just overall improve my fitness (Improve metabolic conditioning, technique, strength) And I wouldn't exactly hate to lower my bodyfat percentage for purely aesthetic purposes, to be honest. When I head back to school for my sophomore year my goal is to put on size and strength, but i'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Ok, thanks. I asked because it seems to be you almost have a fear of food.

If you don't want to do a shake at work then perhaps more of the turkey and a couple of apples? In other words, I think you need more total food intake to fuel your training. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling you don't eat much in terms of total cals.

Re: Pre workout snack

Oh believe me, I don't have a fear of food at all haha. I'll increase my pre workout intake. I normally don't like to use a supplement multiple times in a day. I know its just whey, but I ideally like to keep everything more natural. I'm sure in years to come i'll truly learn the benefits of increasing my supplement intake, but for now i'll keep it this way.

You can add to that an apple or the like. I think that sort of snack would provide you good energy for training and not weigh you down.
What kind of carbs do you put in the shake?

Re: Pre workout snack

I've noticed you talk a bunch about fruits and vegetables, but say you sometimes avoid the sweet potato and don't put your turkey on bread. I think you have the wrong idea about carbs. Fruits and vegetables are great, don't get me wrong, but the real calorie (energy) dense potatoes and grains will help you more than fruits and greens.
