Starting Strength/Black Box

Can someone explain these terms to me, or point me to a good thread that explains them? I tried some searches but all i got was various alternatives to using these concepts, without actually explaining the concepts.

Re: Starting Strength/Black Box

James,

Starting strength is a book written by Mark Rippetoe (WF Safe) http://www.amazon.com/Starting-Stren...3533163&sr=8-1
and is basically used to reference ME (Max effort) incorporation. Some member find they are a little weak on the maximal strength side, and decide to add a strength specific workout. Usually, these members use 'starting strength' workouts, which are just abbreviated strength programs.

Black Box is used as a Max Effort template. You throw a bunch of exercises into a "black box", and pull one out on your max effort day.

Hope this helps.
