Just want to tell me story

Hello all,

My name is William Mattox, 24 years old, been doing Crossfit for 6 months.
My life journey leading up to my discovering Crossfit has been a hard one,
and my reason for posting is to thank Crossfit for saving me.
Having been on my own since 15, I'm sure it's understandable the amount of trouble
I got myself into. In and out of jail, drug abuse, all up until 18. At 18 I was blessed
with the birth of my wonderful son, Conor. He was born with Down Syndrome, causing his
mother to abandon us at his birth. I shared 3 beautiful years with him at my side.
In 2010, my son suffered a horrible accident that took his life. This caused me to
go into a downward spiral of drug abuse, binge drinking and violence. One morning
in September 2012, I read a magazine article on Christmas Abbot and Crossfit.
After extensive research, I decided to give it a try. I almost passed out after my
25 minute Fran. My workout history prior was slim to none.
I became addicted. Crossfitting 4 days a week, cleaning up my diet. My need to be
the best I could be led me to quit smoking, drinking and clean my life up.
These past 6 months have been some of the most eye opening, wonderful experiances
of my life.
And I want to say Thank You, my dear Crossfit. And to all of you on the board,
I have learned so much just reading your questions and answers and PRd yesterday
with a 9 min Fran.

I look forward to future interaction, and future life changes.
Thanks again

Re: Just want to tell me story

A big Welcome to you William.
your short 24 years of life has certainly been filled with more than enough heartache. Glad you have found something positive to channel your energies into.
Condolances on the passing of your son Connor - nothing ever prepares a parent for that level of grief.. hold onto the good memories.

regards

helen

Keep up the hard work William. Keep consistent and continue to move forward. You might one day be competing at the Games and showing the world what hard work and discipline can do. Keep moving forward bro.
