Memorial Day Murph

Tommorrow is memorial day and will be my first time doing murph. That being said I'm trying to figure out a strategy to it. From what i hear doing 20 rounds of cindy is the most popular partition, but i feel as if it has to many transitions between movements which will take a lot of time. I want a sub 35 Minute time and know i can get a sub 6m15s on both runs without killing myself. that being said has anyone else done the workout in another way that can recommend it.

ps. the pushups will probably become my weak point later into the workout as those ussualy trip me up towards the last 5 minutes of cindy

Re: Memorial Day Murph

I did it yesterday for the first time Cindy style. Push-ups ended up being the weakest point for me as well. I think you'll save the most time by using whatever partitioning scheme keeps you going unbroken the longest. Transitions are pretty fast unless your push-up/squat area is some distance from your pull-up bar. Hit the squats fast every round and you'll have a good time.

Re: Memorial Day Murph

We did this yesterday and a few people broke it down as such:

10 pullups
20 push ups
30 squats

10 rounds of the above, basically. About 2-3 people finished under 40 minutes.

Re: Memorial Day Murph

Did murph today with a time of 35:58. I broke it down by doing

5 pullup
5 pushup
15 airsquat
5 pushup

this way i never got tired on any of the movements (pushups on cindy usually get hard and i have to stop to rest) and i was able to go at a fast clip without ever having to rest to much. Though i did take a 2 minute rest or so, which i think allowed me to go harder later on

When you weigh 145 lbs and used to do half marathons it helps! Those body weight movements are made for me... WODs with stuff like 185 lb cleans however.. Not so much

Re: Memorial Day Murph

35:58 and 25:56??? Im almost ashamed to post my time for today.. It was my 1st Murph and I broke it down into 20 "Cindy's" then towards the end I had to break up the push ups into 5 and 5.. The last mile was brutal, Im a terrible runner as is... so that didn't help. But in the end, it really doesn't matter about how good your time was... its about the MEN and WOMEN who protect our country day in and day out..

Thank You for your sacrifice!!!

My time was 54:47

Aaron, in no way should be be ashamed. That is a fast time and for what it's worth, doing murph at all is an accomplishment

Re: Memorial Day Murph

I did Murph last year in 35:00 w/o vest, so yesterday I looked to do it with my Mir Pro. Needless to say, it was alot tougher. I completed it in 57:23; big time difference.
I partitioned my reps 10, 25, 50. The second mile is always brutal as you finish off with squats

Excellent work by all!!!

Michael
