Re: Jon's Journal

Iced my knee several times again today. It's either helping or the swelling is getting better on it's own. My knee still isn't really hurting, just a little tight, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to do some kind of exercise tomorrow. I'm going crazy not working out.

Jon, You're doing great - even if a little much for so fast. Congrats on the progress and on listening to the elbow and knee. You should see how far I have to scale! LOL oh, nevermind. Anyhow, way to go!

Re: Jon's Journal

Thanks alot Delita. I needed the pep talk. Do you go to CrossFit North Carolina or work out on your own?

Welcome. I called them but then Coach Rob opened Crossfit-SWAT closer so I'm joining there. Matter of time and gas, plus I can buy a punch card of sessions (very reasonable!) which works better for me than a membership as getting there even once a week is a real challenge with my schedule.

Mostly I work out on my own using mostly my roommate's universal gym. Slowly adding a few CF things, like yesterday I blew $1.97 on a PVC pipe to practice the Burgener warm-up. Thought he might get tired of me cannibalizing his broom.

Keep up the good work and posting, Jon!

Re: Jon's Journal

Didn't really exercise Saturday. Had planned on a light workout in the evening, but didn't get home until about 10:30.

Today- Decided to do light jogging/walking to see how my knee would handle it. It felt fine during activity and no worse afterward. Still a little tight and weak-feeling when I bend it up towards my butt. Still a little "water on the knee" feeling. Not sure if I tore something or not, but it doesn't seem too serious so I'm going to ease back into it tomorrow. Hopefully it will keep improving. If not I will probably go see a Certified Athletic Trainer for an evaluation. Wish me luck.

Re: Jon's Journal

Yesterday I was exhausted and fell asleep at 8 p.m. No WOD. Weak little man.

Today I decided to do yesterday's WOD since it wouldn't be a heavy load on my knee yet. Knee seems to be geting better everyday. Thank God.
Scaled Cindy: 15 min. of
3 Pull-ups
6 Push-ups
9 Squats
Got 15 rounds. Felt good to workout again, but I have a long way to go to get my conditioning back up. It's absolutely true that conditioning goes faster than strength. I may focus on conditioning for the next week or so to try to push it back up and try to keep the heavy loads off my knee.

BTW - Shannon also did a scaled version of Cindy:
12 min.
1 jumping pullup
4 pushups
7 squats
She got 12 rounds. I was very proud of her. She said her arms felt like jello and her butt hurt.

Re: Jon's Journal

Today was a rest day, but I've missed so many workouts lately I wanted to do something. I did some bastardized scaled version of Nicole.

Run 200 meters (elliptical set on #10)
Max Pullups
As many rounds as possible in 10 min.

Round - Pullups
1 - 9
2 - 6
3 - 5
4 - 5
5 - 5
6 - 4
7 - 5
8 - 3

My pullup numbers are still extremely weak. I know it's my lack of correct kipping, but I'm not sure exactly where I'm going wrong. I'm going to have to practice more and possibly make a trip to an affiliate for some one on one instruction.

At any rate, it just felt good to work out. My knee hasn't bothered me at all today, so hopefully I'm done with that for now.

Re: Jon's Journal

Three rounds for time of:
225 lbs. Deadlift, 15 reps
15 Handstand push-ups
15 Pull-ups
95 lbs. Thruster, 15 reps

Scaled to:
185 Deadlift, 15 reps
15 Handstand push-ups (pike with feet on bench)
15 Pull-ups
95 lbs. Thruster

Deadlift felt good-probably could have went a little heavier
Obviously have to progress to regular HSPU
Getting better with kipping but still needs work-had to break 15 into sets
95 lbs. thrusters kicked my butt-especially in the third round-had to do three sets of 5 in round three.

Finished in 39:35

Overall this seriously wore me out. I hope I didn't push too hard and tomorrow feel like ****. I feel good right now. Tired but good.

Re: Jon's Journal

I think I may have pushed a little too hard on Thursday because I was pretty damn sore yesterday. Enough so that I decided to postpone the long run.

Today-
"Tabata Something Else"

Decided to cut this in half because I'm still pretty sore.
R1 R2 R3 R4
Pullup 14 10 9 8
Pushup 10 10 8 6
Situp 10 8 7 7
Squat 15 15 13 13
Total 163

Pullups were half jumping after the second round. My arms were shot. Other than that it felt like a great workout. I may try to get in a run tomorrow to make up for Friday.

Re: Jon's Journal

Back Squat 3-3-3-3-3 reps

Having trouble with my second-hand olympic bar. My 45 lbs. bumpers won't go all the way on one side, so I couldn't do todays WOD as prescribed.

Back Squat - ATA
95 x 8
165 x 6
185 x 6
185 x 8
185 x 8
185 x 8

Squats felt good. Have to look into getting a new bar so I don't have to deal with not being able to use my 45's like I need to. Did a couple of sets of pullups after squats just because I felt like it.
