Jan 29 WOD

With this workout I can do 30 reps but not at one time. Would I be better off to lighten the weight and go for 30 straight reps or go heavy and do what I can rest and them do more?

Re: Jan 29 WOD

If you're just starting, I'd say pick a weight that you can complete the exercise in 15 minutes. If you've been doing this for a while, there's no shame in taking longer with heavier weight. It's only the real studs who can do this (or any WOD, really) without any rest.

Re: Jan 29 WOD

Thanks Richard. (and Tim) This is my first post, and you just beat me to the same question I had.
btw, I started doing Crossfit workouts yesterday doing the 'cindy' WOD. I'm hurting. I just finished todays. Again, Im hurting! But, I chose to 95 lbs 30 times, versus 135 lbs knowing I couldnt do 30.

Re: Jan 29 WOD

I ended up doing 95lbs and had to split it up into sets. I was really feeling it in my legs toward the end but never got fatigued in my upper body. I have not done much weight work with my legs the past years, just running and biking. I'm feeling it with squats and other leg workouts.

Richard I like the ideal of going with a lighter weight, if you're comfortable cleaning and jerking though, you may consider mixing it up a little too...going lighter and finishing fast is cool, but so is going heavier and taking a while. Remember CF is all about constantly varied, high intensity functional movements...don't be afraid to grind it out every once in awhile.
