"Grace" with kettlebell?

Hey, I am going to do Grace tonight, however I don't have a bar/weights yet. I do have a 44lb kb. What would be the best way to attack this? 30 snatches each side or 30 clean then press each side?

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

I'd do cln & press - 30 each side. Partitioned as necessary.

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

Jeff,

I've done a single kb version of Grace in the past by cleaning the kb from the floor each rep and jerking it (not pressing) 30 times per hand.

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

Sounds good, but it will almost invariably be easier, since it's double reps but with a considerably lighter load.

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

thats what i was going to ask. i know with a kb, you can get a pretty serious workout, but this probably wouldn't be the same. should i bump it up to 50 reps each side to accomodate the lighter load?

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

If the 20k bell is light for you, up the reps as needed. If you start each rep off the floor instead of swinging the bell between reps it will increase the explosiveness and intensity as will jerking the bell overhead.

Like Derek said, it's not the same as using a barbell. But if that is what you have available - no problem. You can create a great workout with whatever is on hand.

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

I apologize in advance for interrupting this thread. I am considering doing Grace with my 20lb Dynamax ball at home (cycle-commute in rain to work, yada, yada, long story). I've watched the medicine ball clean video already.

Question: How many reps 20lb Dynamax ball instead of 135lb barbell? 150 reps? More? Thanks and again, sorry for hijacking.

Re: "Grace" with kettlebell?

I did Grace with my 1.5 pood on 18 Jan in 8:45 30 reps each arm. My Grace time today was 20'14" but with 135. It is a copmpletely different W/O but still fun and useful IMO.
