Probably a liability issue. The legal team last year probably yelled at them about some of the stuff. Reebok's legal team probably did as well. If they're dropping from the top there's the possibility of some damage.

Man, Froning killed that workout. Thinking he's the man to beat at this point. Where's the guy who said his biggest problem was "heart" now??!!

Froning has a pretty crazy engine. He just doesn't really seem to get tired on metcons.

Also, is Event 1 for Individuals not going to be posted online? I didn't really get to see any of that.

Absolutely not. I wasn't able to watch every competitor throughout the day, but I'd say less than 5% of what I saw would have counted. Elbow locks are horrible.

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

just my 0.02 c worth - who is teaching the rope climbs to the competitors ?? - most of what I watched the guys and gals were not using the biggest muscle( ie the legs) to its best advantage for the climbs - most were just using brute shoulder strength to get them up and down - would have been interesting to see what happened when/if they were asked to wack on a 10kg vest ( or a SAW , front line ammo , body armor etc) - just my take on that one event

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

I think Annie T has the best rope climb technique. If you watch this video from Thursday: http://games.crossfit.com/features/v...t-crossfit-lax (wfs) of Annie T training with Carl Paoli at Crossfit LAX, he's teaching her how to use the hips on the way up and climb down with both hands together.

Really efficient technique and saves a lot of energy. Big fan of Carl

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

I laughed at most of the rope climbing techniques.

Generally speaking, there is the way of training rope climbs for uppper body benefit, and then there is the way of climbing ropes for speed. The techniques different significantly obviously.

Like rock climbing you need to maximize use of the legs and minimize use of the arms for the speed rope climbing.

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

ok guys. watched the archives of yesterday and i take back waht i said. no more panic for me. i dont miss the commentators that much.
the epic-ness is the same.

what i did like about them is that sometimes they tell you waht is going on off screen. like in the amanda wod last year. without commentators you would have never know that speaaler was doing great. cez you couldnt see him.

maybe next year the could find some middle ground
