i agree, no idea why its so bad this year. at every event its like there are only 3 people competing. why would you follow the two people that are running the 400m instead of showing the field where the others are doing the muscle ups? its a 400m run, not exactly an action packed event.

One of the most difficult things about judging is the fact that you don't judge based on quality of form, you judge based on whether the movement standards were met. Judging messy reps is one of the most difficult things that can be put before you. I am always so grateful for athletes that move well and have great form, because it makes my job so much easier when I judge.
I get what you're saying but I still don't agree with it, the standard needs to be reviewed and adjusted, I can't understand why crossfit would support these horrendous lifts. THIS is also a perfect example of what/why crossfit gets a major ribbing from other athletes/sports.

my guess is that they don't enforce it as much because it allows them to show bigger numbers. with higher standards i doubt you would see even half the numbers we saw yesterday. of course i don't agree with it but i can't think of another reason.

then again, this is nothing new, we all remember those perfect deadlifts that we saw during the open from Sidell, Tovar and others

Haha exactly. Also incredibly irritating when they are talking about people who aren't on the camera.

I don't like crap dead lift form any better than anyone else, but I don't think it's fair to say we wouldn't have seen half the numbers we saw yesterday if the standards were different. There were a lot of people that put up big numbers with excellent form.

As to the excellent form in the open, I wanted to slap Stacie Tovar during the 14.3 announcement. That was a mess, so bad that if you get caught rounding your back while deadlifting, there are several people at my box that will get on you for "pulling a Tovar."
