Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I think the crazy thing about Khalipa this year is he's won the events that he typically blew up on in years past. I'm still pulling for Rich, but would love to see Khalipa win too. Whoever wins, I think it's going to be close.

True, but requiring too much crazy equipment in the Open would limit the number of people who could participate, and programming workouts in the 30+ minute timeframe would make video submissions unrealistic.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

That's true, it would be difficult in the Open, but Regionals was sub-7 minute benchmark triplet, max barbell, short gymnastics skill, semi-chipper (only moderately "long distance" event), sprint barbell couplet, short chipper, and sprint Olympic lifting couplet.

I know it's not as audience friendly, but it wouldn't have hurt to have something more aerobic/something "unknown and unknowable."

As I said before, down to the last event would be epic. I want froning but khal is a class act also.
3x champ will or would be tough to beat.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

My one buddy just pointed it out, but the small inefficiencies in crossfit are still present. Almost totally gone but still there. The flopping around in the pool was obvious. Right now it's clear nobody is getting down on the ground in a proper sprint starting position. Are they supposed to stand up to start?

Give it a few more years though, every year these people become experts in more fields. Pretty soon the only guys who can get to the games will be hiring specific coaches to help them work on anything. I bet lots of guys get a swim coach or overall endurance coach this next year.

Why do they use "heats" to get the winner? Why not just get the fastest time and be done with it?

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

So am I reading Twitter correctly, neither Froning or Khalipa made it out of their 1st round heats?

I think it'll be between Bailey and Hendren.
