Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

People who constantly say they wanna get in shape but are embarrassed because they don't look like they've been exercising and so they decide to not train because they don't look like the person who has been training for years.

At the old globo, men who sat butt naked on the few benches we have in the change rooms while getting dressed, sometimes for prolonged periods of time as though they were resting and cooling down there

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

The cable crossover guys. Using two pieces of equipment and blocking the all important pull-up bar (the only pull-up bar on the ENTIRE SHIP!!!). Still, I do ask to work in.

Only surpassed by the person blocking the pull-up bar so he can do arm curls with the cable machine with an angle to view the mirror. These things angle out!!! Still, I ask if they can angle out.

Of course, there was the guy that HAD to do dead lifts in the squat cage. Unlike the above people, this jerk didn't want to move away because he liked doing it in the cage.

Yup, it's my Pet Peeve. I always use them.

When I was a kid I dumped a bar off of benchpress on a 1RM with no collars on. Embarassing and scared the hell out of me.

It's not like I run around the gym making people use collars. It's my thing.

Makes sense. I've seen people get stuck on bench press with the collars on. That might be a little more embarrassing for them than dumping it and being able to get out from under it, haha.

By the way, I like your rule #1. That's my only rule in life. And for that exact reason.

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

At the globo: people who unnecessarily ask if your using something.

I understand that this is a courtesy thing and would rather people ask then take other people's equipment. But when I'm only the only other person in the gym and am in the squat rack, why are you bothering me to ask if I'm using a set of dumbbells that's 10 feet away!?

Of course this wouldn't be a problem if people put away their weights...

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

I only use collars on the bar for speed lifts, or dynamic lifts. Presses, bench, squats, deadlifts... never.

I never said that the reasoning was rooted in reality or a must for anyone but me.....it is just a pet peeve of mine. I don't like the plates shaking any more than they do with the collars on.

I don't compete in oly or powerlifting.

Only mild peevish but one of my cooks and I were watching world strongman competition at the restaurant a couple of weeks ago and after about twenty minutes the bartender chimes in. " I don't see how any of those guys are that strong none of them even have abs"
Thank you Jersey Shore for confusing an entire generation about form and function.
sorry I had to share that somewhere
