Hi everyone,

I just joined the message board and I figured I'd give a little intro.

I've been doing crossfit for about two weeks now. My husband started doing it before me while he was away in tech school (he's Air Force) and since I've set a goal to be in awesome shape by the time I'm 30, he got me into it. I turn 28 in July.

Just this week we both started doing the Zone diet and it's great. To be honest, it's not far from what we normally eat - it just gives us a few more guidelines.

I'm 5ft 7 and when I started working out regularly two weeks ago, I weighed 176. This morning I weighed in at 169.5. Needless to say, it looks like it's working. I'm having to alter some of the WOD's since I can't do pull ups for example, but I try to do it as closely as possible.

Anyway, I just thought I'd say hi. I haven't seen a lot of girls on here, but there should be more because this stuff works. I love the feeling that I'm actually getting stronger, not just trying to lose weight. Of course, I get funny looks by the wives chatting on their stationary bikes at the gym.

I look forward to keeping myself encouraged and pumped for all my workouts ahead!

Hi Leah, Connie is right, the female population of CrossFit is growing and they are kicking serious butt!!

Check out the scaled workouts at Brand X if you need some progression work for pull ups, lifts, muscle ups etc. I started at Brand X not being able to do most of the exercises and now I am doing many of the workouts as prescribed (Brand X provide for weight scaling for ladies) and getting GREAT results.

I started as a size 12 and am wearing size 7/8 now and still shrinking.

Post your times and your milestones! (adding a link - W/F safe) http://forum.brandxmartialarts.com/viewforum.php?f=16

I love the looks and comments I get when I train whether CF or just O-lifting.

I especially love the response I get when they find out I'm 42 with 4 children. :biggrinthumb:

Welcome Leah! Now kick some butt, even if it's just your own!:080402gudl_prv:

Thanks to everyone for your responses! Laura, that's what I am right now, a size 12. I want to get to about an 8, so that's really encouraging!

Thanks for the Brand X heads up!

- Leah

Leah, I started very cautiously and slowly last summer as size 12/14. Now I am a size 6!! Although on tops I needs 8s. But thats more for the muscle Ive built!!

It really works if u stick with it. The nutrition element is key.

And Veronica--I too am a Mom with 4 kids (1 married and the other getting married on Mon) and already 45. I also have a grandkid on the way!!

Hey Serena - congrats on your progress! Oh and not to mention getting 2 kids married off. I still have a ways to go in that department. :-)

Great thread, ladies!

I've been doing Crossfit since the end of May, and I love it! I've never been what anyone would consider athletic, and I can certainly tell you that I've been surprising myself with what I can do where Crossfit is concerned. In fact, I'm starting to push myself harder, not automatically picking the lightest weight, etc. I workout 4 times a week with a great group and a great trainer.

I got into Crossfit thanks to my soon-to-be-ex-husband, and it's one of the greatest gifts he's ever given me. He talked up the program until I just -had- to give it a try. I am never made to feel like I have to compete with anyone but myself, and I am never made to feel less than if I have to modify a workout (recovering from a lower back injury from years ago).

Keep getting out there, working out, and kicking a$$!
