Deadlift Form check

Hey Everyone,

I have not deadlifted in a very long time, so any advice on technique is appreciated.

Don't look straight ahead as you start the pull...keep your head in neutral alignment with your body, so at setup you'll be looking at the ground about 6-8 ft in front of you, and you'll look up as your back goes from your setup angle to vertical. Putting your neck out of neutral alignment with a heavy load is bad because your traps attach into the base of your neck, and you don't want that kind of strain on your neck.

At setup, your arms and shoulders are right over the bar...raise your hips a little so your scapula are right over the bar, which means your shoulders themselves will be slightly in front of the bar and your arms will be slightly angled back toward your body. Watch some of Rip's CFJ videos for more on this subject.
