Video Camera Suggestion/Help

Hey,

So I'm wanting to get a nice but not to much of an over kill camera to record videos of my Box and some local Box's and I wanted some suggestions from some people.

I was thinking about a Cannon 5D Mark II. Does anyone use one to record video? If so what lenses do you suggest and other accessories?

I'm mostly going to be using it for CF Box tours and some WOD Demos.

A Canon EOS 5D Mark II? Im not sure about the video, that's an excellent excellent camera though. Pro quality, thats capable of video. I know a lot of photogs using the camera, not so much video. Maybe its well known for video and I just dont know about it...sorry I cant help more.

Re: Video Camera Suggestion/Help

The mark 2 is Outstanding. I use the Canon Rebel T3I which is also absolutely amazing. I got one on Black Friday for just under $500. One of the greatest Steals ever. If you can get a Mark2 for a good price it is held in high regard for video (There are movies that have been shot with it and a lot of commercials). The Rebel would be easier to find good deals on and also does a great job with video and photos. As for accessories...The only thing I have so far is an upscale tripod. I am entertaining getting an ultra wide angle lens to capture more in the field of view.

Re: Video Camera Suggestion/Help

The 5D Mark II should be fine for video; it's pretty well known as the first DSLR to become popular for use in pro video. The Panasonic GH2 and GH3 also have highly capable video.

You're gonna want a fast lens because a lot of the boxes are poorly lit for video. Get a nifty fifty (50mm f/1.8) or similar. A 24-70mm 2.8 would also be a versatile choice, depending on your budget. And get a decent tripod. And get some lights, even if they're just halogen worklights from Home Depot.
