Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

I'm also in the process of trying CBL. I was curious how your 10 day prep phase went? I'm finding that only drinking coffee in the morning suppresses my appetite enough to get me to lunch. But in his book he does not really specify if there is a "to much" coffee limit, I usually drink 2 cups before lunch, I hope that won't throw my progress off. Any thoughts or tips while CBL that I should be aware of?

I didn't do the 10 day prep phase because it is basically the Paleo Diet with dairy, which I've been doing for a while.

From what I read, I didn't see any limit on the coffee. I usually have 2-3 per day.

The only tip I have is to start simple with your carb back-load foods. If you aren't used to eating "dirty", dong all of a sudden try to carb back-load with "dirty" carbs because your body will not like it. If you have a hard time consuming a lot of carbs at night, break them up between dinner and evening snack.

Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

Along similar lines, I began the Carb Nite Solution on Monday. I am doing 11 days rather than 10 for the first phase since it falls on Thanksgiving. I feel better than I thought I would, minus a crappy day 3. Cravings are really non existent. Truly I feel better than I did on my last Whole30. Staying Paleo with the exception of dairy. I will indulge a little on Turkey Day into some "dirty" high GI carbs, but no grains!

I will keep you posted on my progress. This is the first thing in a while that seems to be helping me shed water/fat and feels sustainable....oh and I am down almost 5 lbs in 6 days.

Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

Tonight was my first real "dirty" back-load.

First was some breaded chicken (KFC), an egg roll, and two shrimp turnover thingies (it's a Latin thing and I don't know what they are called in English). From there I had a small piece of strawberry birthday cake. Then I had two Paleo banana walnut muffins with maple syrup. Then me and my 21 month old shared a bowl of Krave Cereal with whole milk and a banana. To my surprise, I didn't feel like throwing up.

I just wanted to try this and see how I feel tomorrow.
