Re: Melanie's workout log

2/16/13
Rowing
row and rest 1:1
250m
500mx3
250m
23:45
kept around 3:00/500m pace

It's time for me to start scaling back significantly. I've been feeling more worn out by the workouts and my doctor says the baby is sitting low so just walking and rowing for me from now on.

2/18/13
Planned to go to rowing but walked about 3 miles so cancelled that.

Re: Melanie's workout log

2/21/13

Rowing
750m repeats
rest 1:30
repeat until form/pace deterioates

I think I did 2 rounds around 3:15/500m pace. Decided to make this my last workout before the baby comes. This was right around when the baby dropped which really made everything more difficult and caused a lot more braxton hicks contractions. It seemed like continuing to workout was adding undue stress for me and the baby vs. keeping me active and healthy during the pregnancy so that's that. I'm feeling pretty good now that I've taken my activity level down but it's kind of boring not going to the gym.

30 days until my due date
weight = 176 (+36lbs)
waist = 33.5 inches

Re: Melanie's workout log

You're still tiny! Good for you for knowing when it's time to rest...I know it's boring, but you're definitely doing the right thing!

I just looked back in my workout log, and my waist was 37.5 inches on 9/5/10. Ethan wasn't born until 11/23/10. No wonder I could barely walk by the end!

Re: Melanie's workout log

In the home stretch, Mel! It sounds like you're making the right choice regarding the gym, even though I totally feel you on the boredom.

The aches and pains have definitely set in in the last week or so for me (almost 28 weeks now) so I see myself slowing down/cutting back to 2-3 days a week.

Take good care of yourself and the little one!

Re: Melanie's workout log

I gave birth to Logan Griffin Lane on April 13th after 16 hours of labor with no pain medication (). He weighed 7lbs 1oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. I ended up with an episiotomy and a 3rd degree tear but my recovery has been good. I was up and walking right after labor and was able to go for longer walks by four days out. I was feeling mostly back to normal by 10 days out. I've been taking walks with the baby pretty much every day but am still having some discomfort in my stitches.

Final pregnancy numbers
weight 182
waist 45 inches

Current numbers
weight 155 (pre-preg 140)
waist 33.5
hips 39.5
thigh 24

5/14/13
hang snatch + OHS
25x3, 35x3, 45x3, 55x2x1
emom 8 mins
back squat, 5 reps (choose weights 45, 75, 105, etc)
45x5, 45x5, 45x5, 45x5, 75x5, 75x5, 75x3, 75x3

I was worried about my stitches but they were fine. The workout was hard though. I felt fatigued and weak, like I had the flu.
I'd like to start from scratch with the snatch and work on form while I'm not worried about the weights.

5/15/13
HSPU progressions
practiced tripod to headstand and kick ups

JT
21-15-9 (scaled to 15-12-9)
HSPU (scaled to kick ups)
ring dip (light band)
push ups (knee push ups)
2/12 push ups in 15 mins

I don't love being upside down normally so was happy I was able to do this. Push ups were hard and I was failing on reps from my knees.

I was hoping to go back tonight for cleans and front squats but I'm amazingly sore so I that's probably not going to happen.

36 weeks pregnant vs 4 weeks postpartum
