Suck it in?

I've seen a lot of before and after picture and I have a couple questions for those of you who know much about this or have a decent abdominal core with abs 'showing':

1. When people are taking before/after pictures, are they sucking in their tummy? Is that a 'good thing'?

2. Are all those folks who have salient 6 pac abs not sucking in their abs when they are on the beach? Is it 'that' natural? I feel like I can see a 6 pac, but if I want to see 'more' of it, I need to harden them.

I know my questions sound pretty lame, but I'm just checking because we have a paleo challenge and I don't seem to get how people are judged based on their 'looks'.

Re: Suck it in?

Poor posture will make your stomach look pudgier than it is. Good posture is good for lots of other reasons, too. But walking around flexed like a bodybuilder is just silly. More muscle is easier to see.

Re: Suck it in?

Please say they're not judging the paleo challenge based on abdominal muscle visibility.

No idea about your challenge and looks - that type of judging seems a bit arbitrary to me.

I posted this a while ago in "testimonials" and I was not "sucking it in" for either picture, and I was seated in both pics, so I figured they were fair to compare. Discussion of how I got from "A to B" is within the thread.

Jamie, your harsh honesty and truths are... awesome!

That wasn't sarcasm... in case you took it as such.
