Thanks for this post Blair! There is a lot of great stuff in there that I am going to make an effort to add to my routines.

As one of the heavy-weights here, some good gymnastics training would benefit me greatly!

It's been awhile since I've looked at it and does look a bit like Outlaw. I finally like it when I look at it from this POV as hybrid programming (not when I used to view it as "Gymnastics").
Hey Blair, what do you think about the Killroy70 template?

Re: I need an Oly/Gymnastics template

It's decent. It used to be very popular over on GB. Now it's kind of old news with the new GB series (which I'm not very familiar with). It should be good for what you're trying to with the Oly/Gymnastic split.

But keep this in mind, if you aren't that strong; inverted pulling like inverted pushing is kind of moot. Inverted pullups "body curls" and HeS/HSPU.

Horizontal pressing and pulling is fairly easy until you start working past body rows and pseudo planche pushups. When you start working FL rows in tuck or straddle and tuck planche pushups they are very trying.

Multiplane press/pulling is only for advanced intermediates and beyond really.

I like the idea of working the basics as a warmup and HS and press HS every day.

I will take that into consideration. I was messing around with some gymnastics yesterday and was able to perform 5 good pseudo planche pushups on the rings and 5 good front lever straight back tuck rows on the bar (maybe more). If I decide to use the Killroy70 template, I like the handstand work warm up.

Re: I need an Oly/Gymnastics template

This is the template I was going to use for the oly workout in the evening (thanks to 70s BIG) but I'm debating taking out the press rows and bench and doing RDLs twice a week since my upper body will get worked from gymnastics. What do you guys think?

Monday
Snatch
Clean and Jerk

Tuesday
High bar squat
Press
Rows

Thursday
Snatch
Clean and Jerk

Friday
Front squat
Bench
RDL

Sounds decent.

Yep, squat and pull. Maybe throw in some Snatch or Clean pulls one one day instead of the RDL.

You'll want to read this post:

Fundamentals is good... but this tells you how to build templates of bodyweight and barbell work

Re: I need an Oly/Gymnastics template

If you can get in touch with Orench

He built an incredible base using a Oly/Gymnastics template, that was quite simple but it's been a few years since he showed me.
