Laura,
I did the 'Bad 5000 too, and was likewise disappointed in my time (this 5K was my marathon pace before I broke my ankle)... the good news is that we now have an excellent baseline to work from :-) What's your next race? I'm thinking of Morro Bay in mid-May...

Hi, Jim! I looked you up. Nice Job!

I've already signed up for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run on June 11. Morro Bay, where's that exactly, near LA? I'll check it out. I have the race place mag and see if it's close enough to drive to. I gotta get there from Ramona. Don't want to get up with the chickens!

By the way, I only took up running a few years ago as a way to work off some extra calories (before I had my son) I worked up to a pace of doing 5 miles in an hour about 2 years ago. My first race was 12 minute per mile Liberty Run (4mi) with my brother in 2002. Then I did the CB5K in 2003, finishing in 33 minute or so.

I'm game for running more races!

Laura, you're inspiring me to sign up for a 5k. I'm going to get one of those event calanders and just go for it (no specific training). By he way...how is your brother doing? Tell him were watching, sort of.

Cool, Larry! Go for it!

My brother ran the Seattle half marathon last year and finished respectably. He's also a computer geek - over 40 - that just decided to get fit one day. I haven't had a chance to sell him on Crossfit though. He's right near Crossfit North I think. Mill Creek, WA. I think he'd love this stuff.

I'm possibly up for the mud run. I've heard lots of good things about it before and want to try it, especially since the emphasis is not on the run!!
Morro Bay is up near SLO. About an hour or two away from CFHQ, and about 4 hours away from me, here in OC.
If you ran that one, it would mean an overnight somewhere up there. Lots of possibilities and nice places to stay. Mom used to live in Grover Beach, about 45 min away.

Definitely thinking about the Mud Run. Gotta get some info.

Ron, go here:

http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1190966

It will be awesome. I am trying to get a couple of the BX guys to sign up for it. I have a couple of verbals so far.

They won't sign up for any "sissy races" that don't have obstacles.

Laura,
Running is for people who can't fight. I suck at running, so I had to learn to fight.

Always an option.....

lol, Frank. I'm learning to fight at Brand X....but I do like to keep my options open.

Running is for people who like to get a badly sectioned orange and a free Power Bar after 30 minutes of pure torture.

Laura,

I see that Saturday's race is sold out. Maybe we could get a "Team Crossfit" group together to run on Sunday. It's $45 per person for a 5 person team. I'd be up for it. Do you think we could recruit 3 more CrossFitters in the SoCal area?
