O.K. I am going to beg. On March 6, 'o5 the 14th annual Firefighter Stairclimb takes place in Seattle, WA. It is a 69-floor climb of the Bank of America Tower. Firefighters must wear full bunker gear and be on air(this means our breathing apparatus is activated). We get one bottle change on the 40th floor. Combined weight of our full gear is 50 to 60lbs. Times are from 11mns to over an hour. All proceeds and donations go to the Lymphoma/Leukemia society.
I plan on doing this with two of my coworkers, one of whom I adventure raced with for over 3 years. If anyone is willing to pledge 5 to 25 bucks, that would be awesome. Stay tuned; our going is dependent on my convincing our company that this is worth their paying the airfare and covering our shifts when we are gone. If you are interested in the event, the website is www.tlls.org/all. I don't know if you need the all at the end.

Hey Dale,
Keep us posted on the event and your participation; I didn't see a spot on the website for your specific event and I'd definitely like to sponsor you.

Thanx, Lynn. Try this web address; www.tlls.org/wa/firefighter. Also, we are going whether the company does airfare or not. And now there are four of us, 2 of us pretty religious about crossfit, one just starting. I will find out procedures for payment of pledges. Also, if you fellow crossfitters want to make sure that I am who I say I am you can contact 520.297.3600. this is Rural-Metro in Tucson, Az. Ask to speak with Chief Flores or Webb and they can verify that I work as a fire captain for them. Be patient, there is a recording that answers if the receptionist is not at her desk. Keep trying.

spoke with the Washington chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society today and they suggest couple of ways to accept donations; on active.com could set up a webpage and people can donate via internet. they charge a fee, however. a 6.5% cut of every donation. so, to keep all the $ going to LLS, checks can be sent to me at 9183 N. Desert Earth Pl., Tucson, Az. 85743. They should be made out to LLS(Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).

Hey Dale,
You still in for this challenge, and accepting checks as posted above?
Now that we're in the same year as the contest, I figured it was time for an update.
Thanks!

Hey Lynne, Yes. there are now 6 of us going. Sorry for the delayed response. There have been many excellent improvements in my department that have demanded a lot of extra time to get things rolling so have not been on the site much. I will check on this thread in a day or two to see if you have seen this. if not will start a new one. our new chief is very excited about us old farts doing this mad thing so he is going to roll on a link on the company's website for pledges. may be other options. will let you know in couple of days. we well also try to visit the seattle boys while we are there. will be in touch. dale.

Hi. No. We like to do stuff in our bunker gear. None of us got near the record of 69 floors in 11mns, 8 secs. but we ranged from 17:26 to 28mns. One of our guys went all the way on one bottle with 400 psi left(start at 3000). It was pretty hot, sweaty, exhausting and BAAAD! We already have vacation for next year. Dale.
