Who is the Mainsite WOD for?

So, I am new to Crossfit, and am loving it. Currently I am working through Starting Strength to get my main lifts better ans stronger so I can do more crossfit stuff up to par.
My question is once I am done, how do I program (I know it depends on my goals, basically I am looking to increase my GPP. Really I want to say that I am "good" at crossfit, so I have decent lifting abilities, metabolic conditioning is up to par, and I have a good skill set.)
Is using the WOD on the mainsite good enough. Do affiliate gyms follow the mainsite WOD? Is there a general pattern that it follows? Is there variance within a weekspan?

If I were to program for myself, I would do crossfit with a strength focus.

I live kind of in a isolated area, so all of my fitness is done at home in my garage.

Re: Who is the Mainsite WOD for?

I can tell you now that if you're new to things, don't program for yourself. I did that for awhile and saw very little gains. There's a reason that established programs get so much attention. Just doing WOD's won't really increase your lifts past beginner gains. Crossfit Football has a good mix of mainsite style WOD's mixed with strength WOD's. If you're looking for conditioning mixed with strength, that'd get my vote. There is also gslp, but I don't know a ton about it. Wendler 531 is good, but there isn't as much conditioning as the others.

Do some poking around on the forum, there are plenty of threads on all of these programs.

no, you should not follow mainsite. no, you should not program for yourself. find a program that is established and proven to work and follow it. there are many that work great for GPP. many affaliates also have good programming and post their workouts for free on their websites.

Max Effort Black Box or Outlaw or GSLP is surely the way to go? 3 really well established programs to choose from.

I've serious issues with 5/3/1 but that's for another day.

Yes do the Main site. I did it for years and it works well.

Not to hijack this thread. You're welcome to answer here or in your own thread or pm me or something. I just started 5/3/1 and am curious what serious issues you have with it? Just curious cause I really haven't heard anything negative about it.

Curious too. Not to start an argument around it, just curious. I think there is good and not so good with it. I have and am running it currently, but trying to do so in a way to train other modalities.

It doesn't really follow a progression and its kind of like doing a random workout every day. If your going from doing nothing to doing it you'll improve, but only for a short while. Its decent if you just want general fitness too, but if you have any form of concrete goals it won't help you.

I know some people that had thrived on it though (top 100 in the open). But people like that have such good genetics that they'd be fine doing just about anything with high intensity.
Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure you'll get more responses along those lines
