Back squat question

Wondering if I should reduce my 1 rep max at back squat. You see my 1 rep max back squat is 315 but I've noticed I'm barely breaking parallel. What do you think?

Re: Back squat question

Breaking parallel is a legit lift so I would count it. Doesn't really matter anyways unless you are basing a program off of your 1RM and even then breaking parallel is a good lift.

Re: Back squat question

It "counts" if you break parallel. Some prefer an ATG squat but when maxing I'm not going for that.

Now if you want you could say do 80-90% and try to get lower in the hole and work with that weight but don't be to focused on huge depth unless you can safely hit a lower depth and want too.

Re: Back squat question

I would definitely count it. Hitting parallel is great, most people prefer going lower, that will come with time. Unless you're doing a program based off your 1RM (like Luke said) then maybe back off it just a little. Most programs don't use a true 100% 1RM anyways.
