TRX suspension trainer

Anybody else tried this, or is this nothing more than glorified gymnast rings?

Re: TRX suspension trainer

They are decent but I messed up my shoulder on those. Will never touch them again.

There is a TRX at a globo gym I train at occasionally. It's better than nothing, in my opinion, as a substitute for rings but all the fancy adjustable D-rings and nylon layering is pretty abrasive on skin when doing muscle-ups compared to a CF-standard ring setup!

Can I ask how you did that?

I used a homemade version for push ups because doing them on the floor with a wide grip was hurting my shoulders, and thought if my hands could move I would find a good ROM.

Re: TRX suspension trainer

I love mine! I also have rings though and don't use my TRX for muscle ups! There are a number of exercises you can do with them. My favorite is the atomic push-up. You put your feet in the straps and do a push-up and then bring your knees into your chest, then repeat!

I also use them to train clients with. They are great for clients who have had knee surgery because they can hold them while they go into their squat. It changes the angle of the squat but takes the stress off the knee. Just a couple of ideas.

But definitely wouldn't replace my rings with them.

Really wish I knew, I just know that my military class brought in a TRX trainer and we were on them for about an hour. I felt something probably 3/4 way through but didn't think much of it. Had nagging shoulder pain for about a year or so after that. I was younger then and not as smart about backing off and seeking help/therapy...So a lot of ownus is on me...like I said they are decent I have nothing against them except that I associate them with the biggest lay-off I've ever experienced.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them.
