Deadlift

I know it's not very productive to post a max effort for critique on form, but it's the only video I've got.

Deadlifting has always been of my greatest weaknesses and since I now have a video of myself deadlifting, I thought I'd ask for some critique.

I know my back rounds up, but it was a PR attempt, so I hope you can look beyond that.

Is something wrong with my starting position? The way I start the pull or something? Anything?

I feel that generally getting the bar off the floor is the hardest part; I've never had to drop a deadlift that's off the floor already, it either goes up or it doesn't move.

I'll probably end up posting another video if I can get someone to come to a deadlifting session with me that doesn't involve a PR attempt. (It's hard to get people to work out with you when it's anything other than "bench day".) But until then I'll take any comments I can get.

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjeohIVfhI4WFS??

Thanks.

Re: Deadlift

Other than rounding your back and dropping the weight (that would disqualify the lift), it looked good. Congrats on double BW!

Re: Deadlift

Congrats!

It looked good with the already noted issues. I would personally not do the hyperbreathing, just too much of a sudden rush o2 in the system; could make you dizzy. Just one big long breath, quick "ssst" hold, lock, lift.
I am learning that breath control makes a small difference on the big lifts.

again.. congrats..

You know... The breathing might be a good idea. I was pretty dizzy after that deadlift and last week, after pulling 3x130kg I was very close to fainting.

I'll try taking just one big breath and see if it changes. Thanks.

Re: Deadlift

For a max effort lift that looks very clean!! nice work! Starting position looks great. You mention either being able to do the lift all the way or not even move it off the ground, I think that is normal for when you have good form so do not worry about it Keep up the solid lifting!
