To me, the marketing for the Open this year seems pretty similar to last year. Here are some of my thoughts on last year's marketing. (wfs)

However, your observations on growth are interesting. I think you're on to something.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Sorry to say but I think we will see a decline this year of about 25-30%. There is no way they will increase the numbers this year.

I think one of the issues is the lack of media on the CF homepage and very little to raise the interest the past few months for the open.

Video's of the elite also raise interest but there has not been that many either..

CFHQ did not keep the burn going and feed the fire since the games...on top of that the top teams and individuals have been non existent via CFHQ. People will look for the elite for inspiration and to keep up the interest, but there is a lack of it.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Looks like 16.2 will be the one done at someone's garage gym. Bailey and Gumundsson are the competitors. While I still hope they pick my garage gym (@drohanmayhem, #suckitslothpeople), I am disappointed it's not a *dottir vs. *dottir battle. That would be the one to host!

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I am sure that they have the place all scouted out and tightly under wraps for the Garage gym. Castro said it would not be in CA when he came to our gym but that doesn't mean much. Would like to see an average Joe type of Garage gym get the workout.

Should we have a bet about if 16.1 is going to be a repeat.

I would not be surprised one way or the other. Sure would love to improve over my 15.1 and 15.1 A but waiting a year in between opens and they spring the repeat on the first week.. kind of boring right?

Hope for a different workout but prepare for the same.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I hope there is no repeat for 16.1, that would be a shame...

Waiting all this time, all the excitement and they throw a dud at us... that would be a anti climax.

I am hope its new, fresh and a bit%Ą of a workout to set the limit from day 1.

That would be very cool. More so for my son. Embarrassing for me.

Pretty impressive troll to actually do 7 minutes of muscle ups!

Somebody on Instagram (not wfs, language) was poking fun at the open workout that was 7 minutes of burpees. They made the meme as a joke, and Dave Castro was like, "Yeah, we'll do that workout." Made me chuckle.
