Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Over the last month I've noticed a couple of things, but nothing stands out as being more obvious than this:

Deadlifts seem to break the souls of my friends.

They show up like clockwork every day except DL days, at which point obscure relatives all visit, unknown pets get ill, et cetera.

I know, personally, DLs are suck -- like today I had to take an hour nap from the drain ... but really, is it normal for people to actively avoid Deadlifting?

People who avoid their weakness' get to keep 'em.
Send them to the donut shop instead.

Having a bit of spirit helps, or in this case; balls.

The two people I'm training now love deadlift day. We just set a round of PRs today and they were pumped!

Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Deads are my personal favorite slow lift, with OHS being a close second.

If your friends suck at them and as a consequence avoid them, they will not ever improve at them. Compund yet irreducible, etc.

Most of my buddies also either complain ad nauseam or just don't show up on DL days. I frankly like them a lot, I feel a lot stronger after doing a workout involving them.

Deadlifts rank right up there with ice cream and Christmas presents

I agree with everyone else in saying that I really enjoy deadlifts, and that your friends are avoiding what they are no good at.
