I think he meant you don't have the same build as Cheryl Haworth...

But no, we all know what you mean

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I saw a guy, who does Crossfit, doing front squats with a pad on the bar using the California grip. I tried to help him out, but I was training two people at the time and couldn't spend much time with him.

It cracks me up when trainers have out of shape overweight people doing curls and tricep kick backs. WHat is that supposed to do? You'r hitting so little muscle, you won't cause any adaptation. ANd they are supposed to know better.

It torques me off when skinny chicks get all upset about semantic arguements. It's so not premium. :stir:

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Ok ok ok....On the smith machine...
This lady loaded it up with about 40# and lowered to its lowest level. She then got on all fours and with one leg started doing a kind of "donkey kick" I guess you would call at as full a range she could go up, for about 10 or reps a piece. She did this for around 5 sets. I was squating in the rack that is right next to the smith machine and was like "F**king WOW... and I had to stop and sew my jaw shut. Pure amazement.

But they're targeting the saggy flesh around the upper arm.

Ugh. This is absolutely my number one pet peeve at the gym. Worse than the seated behind the neck presses in the Smith Machine or even the endless curls at the only squat rack in the gym. I can wait, but the seriously overweight people need and are paying for help, and what they get is such a total waste of time and money. Somebody please make it stop.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I'm trying man, I'm trying. I feel bad because the trainers at the gym not how to train, but theythink that most of their clients are so hopeless that they can't do anything but the pathetic excersizes. The trainers never challenge them. Even the athletes are allowed to use horrible form. Why do you allow this?

THe guy I'm training has a hard time getting low on squats when the weight goes up. Last set he was about an inch too high. Kept cueing him, but he couldn't or wouldn't do it. SO next time, instead of a 10 lb jump, we're doing a 5 lb. If that doesn't work, then we'llstay at the wieght till he gets it.

The trainers still can't get their clients below a half squat.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

There's 2 guys at my globo that crack me up...

Dude # 1.

Seems like a nice guy, very dedicated and seemed to show up consistantly but when he did lat pull downs it had the same movement as a kipping pullup. It was a violent movement that I never understood. Maybe he was scaling or something? Seriously though...He would pull the bar down, bend backwards a little bit, then violently fly back up, bringing his but off of the seat and back down again. It kind of looked like a seated, assisted, scaled, weird, kipping pullup. I dunno...

Dude # 2.

Younger dude at the squat rack had at least 3 plates (maybe 4) I can't recall that because of what I was actually observing.

the guy gets under the bar gets it off the rack and prepares to squat. Buddy number one is spotting the left side of the bar, buddy 2 is spotting the right side. Buddy number three is helping to do something as well??? Maybe help keep a stable midline?? By placing his right hand around the squatters chest and pulling back while putting his left palm on the small of his back (on the weightlifter belt) pushing forward.

He did pretty good...maybe a little bit shy of 1/2 parallel...for about 3 reps.
I'm not a good writer and I'm sure I'm doing this story zero justice but it was funny nonetheless.

P.S.

My name is Jason David and I used to curl in the squat rack.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Hi Jason, thank you for sharing;

My name is Giles Clarke and I'm a recovering partial squatter. I've been partial squat clean now for two years, and it feels really good.

Some days are easier than others. I mean, the temptation is always there. When I go to a gym and look around at everyone else partial squatting and having a good time I sometimes think, "Go on, one partial squat isn't going to kill you. Who's even going to know."
But, I'll know. That's what has kept me partial squat clean this long.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but there's one out with Brad Pitt as a rather high spirited Globo trainer... even if the rest of the movie is junk, it is probably worth it just to see how he portrays the character.
