I got a small tear in the lower portion of my bicep, near the elbow. The Doc says rest it, and no uper body lifting or pulling, for a month. Any advice on how to help this injury along and heal faster?

Keep moving the muscle in an unloaded motion and follow your docs advice. The ligament does not have a very good blood supply of its own so healing is slow.

I had a similar injury about 20 years ago, except it was the upper are of my bi (near muscle origin) I was doing weighted pullups.

1-I would say no pulling that causes pain.

2-You should still be able to press cautiously.

3-You may be able to do some pulling like rowing but be careful and try to use your lats on the pull instead of your bi's.

4-ROM everyday, I would also add that once the swelling is down I would start daily gentle loading.

Unless this tear was really big it should heal well. Mine is stronger than it was when it tore, although you can see the difference in shape between my bi's at certain angles.
