I came up with a new Crossfit workout...

...insulate your attic in south Louisiana during the summer for time. I don't think I have ever been that hot before. Must've been 110+ degrees up there.

I'll find out about that heat soon enough. I'm moving north of Lake Charles next month. I know we make a few trips out there to N.O., so I'm going to have to hit that affiliate up when I go out there.

I've got you beat. I'm an A/C tech in Houston. It's only the first week of June and I've already been in 130 attics. I've measured 140 before both in an attic and on a rooftop.

I find it ironic that my job is to make people cool and comfortable, yet I never am myself

Last time I was in Lake Charles, it was when we evacuated for Hurricane Ivan back in 2004 (or was it 2003?) I remember it getting really HOT there. Not the humid kind of hot we get in New Orleans, just plain HOT.

Re: I came up with a new Crossfit workout...

That's awesome! At our house/money pit we've been doing the following:
Pull down an 8' x 8' section of plaster (under five layers of wallpaper)
Shovel plaster out window
Pull out an 8' x 8' section of lathe
Shovel/throw lathe out window while avoiding nail punctures
Pull down an 8' x 8' section of heavier, tougher plaster
Shovel plaster out window
Pull out an 8' x 8' section of lathe
Shovel/throw lathe out window while avoiding nail punctures

Repeat until the mixture of sweat and plaster turns you into a walking cement man.
...and that's just the walls, we also have to do the slanted part of the ceiling and the horizontal ceiling.

We've also done the "Deadlift and carry 2x10-foot sheets of drywall upstairs, 16 reps for time". Anyone else doing a "Home Reno WOD?"

Werd. I did this to my mom's 50 year old house in San Antonio a few years ago...in August. 140 degrees according to the thermometer. I was losing like 5 pounds of water weight every time I went up there! It sucked. But on the bright side...it helped. You'll appreciate having gotten it done when your next utility bill shows up.

Of course, now that I'm in Seattle...I don't think it's gotten over 60 in a couple weeks. WTF. I've never used the heater in June before...

I was the only person at lunch wearing flip-flops, and the only person without a jacket. Sigh. I refuse to acknowledge the weather. It's JUNE!
