Fun one I made up today

500 doubleunders
5 mile airdyne

Start with doubleunders - do as many as you can unbroken and then switch to the airdyne and go as far (in hundredths of a mile) as you did doubleunders.

So if you did 78 doubleunders in your first set, airdyne .78 miles.

Keep going back and forth until you're done. Really enjoyed this one. Kept me sweating and breathing hard the entire time but never really got too awful due to the somewhat self limiting nature of it.

Took me 21:36. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

Re: Fun one I made up today

I wonder what distance would be best if I were to sub in rowing for airdyne... or maybe row for calories instead (10 DU = 1 cal or something).

Although some days with my DUs I would spend more time transitioning than doing the actual workout, ha.

Yeah I thought about doing it with rowing as well. 5 miles = 5k is probably fair. It would take a bit longer, but it would make the conversion easy. If you get tripped up on doubleunders a lot make it something where you don't switch back and forth until you have done at least 25 doubleunders.

Give it a shot!

I'll try it tonight. My thing lately...sort of addicted to doubleunders while zoning out to listening to this dude Wiz Khalifa.

Re: Fun one I made up today

sounds awesome!(and hurtful)
I just think the airdyne is more effective for interval and short work but will def think about trying something like this soon...thanks for the idea

yeah that workout was pretty brutal....

weighed myself before hand 181 after 175 lbs...pretty much sweated 6 lbs

now I pretty much know why the airdyne is the machine of choice for boxers, UFC fighters for making weight.
