Just a couple of Qs, what is your age, training routines and "what are your goals"?

Re: General Nutrition / Recovery List - Feedback Wanted

Hi Dare,

Thanks for the reply.

Not so much goal setting here, just reeducating myself on nutrition.

So basically just making sure I've got all the bases covered on the different facet of nutrition and recovery.

But if it helps, I'm 37, pretty standard CF Strength bias 5 days / week, goals just to learn more about nutrition and recovery.

Anything on that list you might add....?

Sean

Kind of an odd post but if you want all your bases covered just start reading:

Thanks for the link.

Odd? I'm wanting to research nutrition and recovery to a deeper level. The first thing you do is figure out all the subareas you want to learn about. No?

Cheers

These should cover just about everything you need to know about sports nutrition.

Online resources.

Position of the American Dietetic Association, Dietitians of Canada, and the American College of Sports Medicine: Nutrition and Athletic Performance.

IOC Consensus Statement on Sports Nutrition 2010.

IOC - Nutrition for Athletes.

IAAF - Nutrition for Athletics: The 2007 IAAF Consensus Statement.

IAAF - Practical Guide to Nutrition.

AIS Sport Nutrition Factsheets.

Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute Factsheet: Food For Sport.

Report of a Joint FAO/WHO Expert Consultation - Carbohydrates in Human Nutrition: The Role of Carbohydrates in Exercise and Physical Performance.

International Society of Sports Nutrition Position Stand: Nutrient timing.

Substrate utilization during exercise in active people.
Edward F Coyle. Am J Clin Nutr 1995;61(suppl):968S-79S.

Books.

This is a good introduction to sports nutrition, covering all the bases without being too sciencey -

The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition by Anita Bean.

A slightly more advanced text if you want something more sciencey -

Advanced Sports Nutrition by Dan Benardot.

An advanced level textbook I'd only recommend if you already have some basic knowledge of human physiology and really want to get into the science.

Exercise Physiology: Nutrition, Energy, and Human Performance by McCardle, Katch & Katch.
