Hanging rings in basement, is it safe?

Instead of bringing my rings to the gym today I decided to see if I could hang them in my basement on the wood "I" beam that runs the length of my house. Sure enough they seemed to work pretty good. I did a few pushups, dips, rows, etc and things seemed alright.

Can anyone see any problems with my setup or any drawbacks that could affect the I beam over time. I have the rings somewhat centered between a support pole and the foundation where the I beam rests on, probably an 8 foot stretch of the beam. I weigh about 225 if that matters. I've attached a couple photos (w/f safe) of the setup. Hopefully they're on here...Let me know what you think.

Is that an I-beam or a single timber like a 4x8?

If it's holding up the first floor of the house, I suspect it can handle you ...

uh, yeah, it looks like that beam is holding up the uprights that hold your floorboards up. so, i'd say that if you somehow manage to damage it with your 225lb frame, you'd want to move out of that house, because it is about to come down at any second.

You could weigh 1000 pounds and that beam would still hold you.

I'd be concerned about the straps abrading against the corners of the beam. Check the straps regularly for wear or consider hanging them from a pair of eye screws.

I'm a carpenter for what it's worth, don't sweat it. Watch your head though.

We have 4 sets of rings and 8 chinup bars hanging off ours if that makes you feel better.

towels under the straps will stop any concern of that...

Jay, I'm hanging mine over my husbands chin-up/pull-up bar, which is on the I beams. Watch your head.
