Fatty McLovehandles' Big Adventure...

after two months of crossfitting on my own, yesterday i started day one of fundamentals training at http://www.fieldhousegym.com/

Starting Stats:
Age: 30
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 276.4 lbs
Crossfit Total: 715 on 4/9/09
Crossfit Awesomeness: 0 %

warmup began with a 400m run followed by 2x10: pushups, situps, air squats

fundamentals training on air squats, back squats, deadlift and pullups

follwed by an 8 minute tabata workout of air squats and pushups (82 squats and uhhh...40 pushups...not exactly my strong suit)

i was absolute toast at the end and realized that even despite my 2 months of work, i'm starting at ROCK bottom (though i appreciate the 2 months to get acclamaited to what CF was all about, learn the terminology and exercises or i'd be lost.) I have literally nowhere to go but up. fundamentals class # 2 on Wednesday so tonight will be a rest day. If it stops raining, i'll go to my regular Tuesday night basketball pickup.

Mike,
You've already taken a huge step towards awesomeness just by starting a log and most importantly by going over the fundamentals! I look forward to seeing your progress keep it up!

Re: Fatty McLovehandles' Big Adventure...

Destroyed.

warmup:
3 x 10: pushups, situps, squats

fundamentals training:
overhead squat
push jerk
clean
rope climb (epic fail)
back extension
glute ham sit up
towel side to side jump pull ups

workout:
5 sets for time:
5 jump pullups
10 pushups
15 wallball

my time was 18:something...i stupidly forgot to write it down. it's a start. this was definitely the hardest thing i've ever done...and i'm sure it's just a baby WOD. coach seems stoked on my fundamentals (outside of pullups/rope) so i've got that going for me...dealing with some shin pain now so tomorrow will be a welcome day off. if i'm feeling up to it i'm going to try to make the saturday class...if i can't make it (box is open 9-12) i'll head to my work gym and do the main site WOD. can't wait to start getting into some oly lifting, though i'm sure i'll be not so stoked on it when i'm actually doing it!

going to load up on veggies, fruits and lean meats this weekend to kick start paleo, and going to a paleo/zone seminar on Wednesday, so i will really amp up on diet starting Monday. all of this is for naught if i can't get that under control as well.
