Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Give your friends a pep talk about how you're all obligated to each other and that it is not just social hour.
Then, move the DL day to the next day and when they all come in, do the DL workout.

Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Have them watch a video on the correct technique, and lower the weight until they get a feel for it. They'll come around.

Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

As has been said, force them to DL. Most important movment there is IMHO.

You said you need a 4 hour nap to recover from them though? What am I doing wrong, never needed rest after DLing.

Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Your friends are...you know whats. Either accept them for that, or find some other friends to DL with. I say its not worth the energy trying to talk, trick, or persuade someone to do something. You can lead by example, but that's as far as i would take it.

Re: Deadlifts break my friends spirit?

Deadlifts are my favorite day. Theres nothing like finishing my last set of deadlifts after breaking a pr. A sense of achievement overcomes me, more so than my other lifts for some reason.

Then i realize i have to stand up and do a metcon and cry a little bit on the inside.
