http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/faq.html#WOD0 (wfs)

Scroll down a a bit to the heroes and he is third one down.

1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run
For time.
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

Come on guys. The question was 'what is Murph' not 'how do you do Murph'

Murph IS.. a lesson in suffering that can only be compared to a full colonscopy that involves no pain killers, while getting your teeth drilled by half crazed crosseyed monkey. Afterwards, you'll be wondering if you were hit by something large and diesel powered with a cow plow on the front... a serrated cow plow.....

Very good! Although I think you left out the rusty butter knife through the temple.
I can see this definition as defining MANY Crossfit workouts (Murph, Linda, F Gone Bad...)

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I really don't think the Murph is that bad as people make it out to be. Sure it's very demanding, especially considering its length, but even at full intensity it's not nearly as painful as Fran or Grace.

Re: help! Need the workout Murph!

I am still a newb, but I found Murph to be one of the toughest workout to finish, ever. I mean, I scaled to Half Murph and it took me over 30 minutes, don't remember the exact time, maybe 32-ish. But that second run... oh my, that second 1/2 mile after all the pull-ups, push-ups and air squats... I had to walk most of it, it was truly devastating.

Of course, I've done several workouts that make me think "this is the hardest thing I've ever done". I gotta be honest with you, I did Linda with all 55 reps the other day... and I forgot to leave my ego at the door, and used weights higher than I should have... and that was definitely the hardest workout to finish for me so far, it took me over 50 minutes. Yes, it's depressing to download the main page video and watch a woman do it, with slightly more weight than myself, in 14:59 ....
