Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

Thanks Luke and Jess for your help and encouragement with push presses; I was pleased with the 35 lbs. I did for the first time. Also, Jess L., I'll be there tommorow morning if you want a partner.

Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

Tonight, I made it to a Friday night class as a participant! I guess people weren't up to doing Painstorm, which I was kind of psyched for, so we hit "Gwen":
Clean & Jerk 15-12- and 9 reps

I managed with 135, got my 12 in good form and then decided to just tap into some inner rage for my last set of 9 and just rip 'em out. I caught such a bounce on one that I just screamed out, "F-~ker!", much to the amusement of those observing. It was actually far easier to just tear the last set up and act like a coke-snorting beast... which reminds me that someone should move that chalk when barbells are bouncing around the room! It was awesome to work with all of the CFers in there and I got to push a little harder and see Matt get it with 145#! Definitely going for 155 if I see "Gwen" again.

Thanks for the coaching, Luke. And nice work, especially to those who were new to the movement.

Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

Was a great class last night.

Was going to do a Painstorm but the vibe, the essence, the feeling I was getting from folks was that they'd push through it, but honestly, would rather not. I was tired, they were tired. However, the energy was just right for "Gwen", so we set that up.

Matt led off with an impressive, staggering-about the gym and looking like he was gonna keel over 145.
Then JJ with 115.
Ernie started at 75, was way too light, went to 95
Joe the same as Ernie, then pushed to 105 the last set
Sarah at 45
Brett at 135, methed out snorting cursing Beast of a Man!
Ang at 45 then 55
Chad at 95

Good day! For those that didn't do Gwen last night we'll do that today, otherwise we'll have a nice met-con workout.

Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

We had a big crew this morning, and now most of the following folks KNOW FOR CERTAIN that Susie is a Very Bright Woman. Thanks, guys, for helping me with the logistics of running my biggest class yet, and thanks to Jess Lasky for figuring out how to convert Fight Gone Bad time to running time! Jason, PLEASE put a key up as to which button is for which timer!

Anyway, we did the unnamed Painstorm with the front squats, push-press, thrusters, swings and burpees:

Marie: 25:42
Trish 34:59
Shye 35:10
Teresa 36:02
Jess L: 47:08
John ? did it for the sheer joy of it
Beth: 35:35
Dona: 44:08

And Allie, Nina and Erin did
3 rounds for time:
500 m. row
5 pullups
10 pushups
15 squats

Followed by some skill work on rowing technique and 2000m. row.

The energy was good, the room was full and everybody put up with me and my issues with math. GREAT class!

We had Paul stop by at 9am for an intro class and he whipped off 5 rounds of Cindy in under 4 minutes! Hope to see Paul in a class real soon. Nice meeting you!

I'm gonna miss my Sat. 8am regulars, but I hope to be back running class mid-May. Believe me, I'll be there sooner if I can! I just love working with you folks and watching you get stronger and faster.

Namaste,
Susie

Friday night:

Gwen w/ 115lbs.
I'm the only one who had to break a set due to my puny forearms.

Saw the Beowolf workout. You guys were insane. Real wolves! Brett, you were the scariest part of the vid. I almost thought isolation was suddenly brought in to crossfit.

Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

Thanks, Jay, for the afternoon delight, and the encouragement. Good call on lowering the weight for push-jerk. Shoulders are calling for total rest now.
Here's my memory of the weights:
Presses: 5 sets of 1 45, 50, 55, 60, 65
Push-press: 5 sets of 3 either 55 or 60
Push-jerk: 5 sets of 5 @ 55
I started needing longer rests as the right shoulder started to hurt.
In the middle of last night my left shoulder/tricep was throbbing, and more of the left shoulder is hurting today. Hoping for a quick recovery. I've been pushing the envelope most of this week.

Re: Albany CrossFit Workout Log

Did "Gwen" with Jay, Yvonne, and Niki.
I watched Niki and Yvonne do it and they did not look happy.

115lbs 15-12-9
52 secs, 46 secs, and 32 secs.
Next time will move up to 135lbs.

Why do I have a big long straight bruise across my chest?
