video help

Happy New Year. I would like to find somone who could create a cool animation and sound using our logo. We would use it for opening and closing video's on our site.

Re: video help

My web guy thought Adobe After Effects would work for this application. Anyone have experience with it?

Re: video help

Hi;

What do you want the logo to do? Do you want the rock and person to move together, or have the rock win...? It's pretty easy in after effects.

Re: video help

Jim,

Have the guy pushing the rock up the hill for just a couple of pushes/steps with obvious grunting (audio) and grimacing going on. Then a loud sound, like an explosion or boom or something and then the letters CrossFit Marquette exploding onto the screen.

When I was first working on the logo a couple of years ago I found this: http://green.autoblog.com/2008/02/04...-yukon-hybrid/

Re: video help

Hi Bill;

I just responded and then deleted it by mistake.
All of what you want is doable in After Effects and or Flash or both. I would use both. To start you need to have your graphic in a vector format and in layers, so the layers can be moved independently of each other. Creating the illusion of movement is pretty simple, the features of the rock have to move, so they should be on their own layer, the rock and leg shadows have to move, own layers, and the legs have to move, own layers.
The explosion and name is best done in After Effects.
The question I have is, "why do it?". What value is added to your website? Which I think is pretty nice as it is. (I would swap the two end pictures, and perhaps swap more pictures into the frames. The pic of the lady lifting the bar the bar is not showing since it's blurred...) nit picking.
Anyway, the guy pushes the rock to the top of the hill and it explodes on him? How F'd is that! lol

Re: video help

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that Jim. The animation would be for posting video. Kind of an opening to all of the videos we create. Brand identity kind of thing. My personal philosophy about life is pretty much taking on efforts like pushing that rock up the hill. The thing that intrigues me is that CrossFitters set the bar so high (big rock) and just do it voluntarily. I get especially jazzed watching some video of a CrossFitter with a loaded bar, going overhead, in obvious pain, pumping out the reps. To me, that is humanity at its best. Pushing through, not because they have to, but because they chose to!

Re: video help

Bill, that sounds like the best use of the animation. The post I inadvertently deleted suggested using it as part of your youtube channel, for branding. The only problem I still have it the reason for the explosion. Maybe hitting the rock with a sledge hammer and having the name revealed?
That's all stuff than can be played with later. It's doable, but expect to pay. You may want to look at elance for someone to quote the job. Remember to buy USA.

Re: video help

Jim, there is no explosion. It is just a loud sound when the "CrossFit Marquette" hits the screen....

Re: video help

After effects is quite powerfull, I play with it form time to time.

One of the best sites I have found for tutorials and such is www.videocopilot.net (wfs, some tutorials may have some graphic content)

Re: video help

No explosion, that's easier. I think I've got it. Does the rock stay there when the name comes up? If you have all the graphics it's pretty easy to do.
I think I'm beginning to "see" it and I like it.
