Post Strength & Conditioning books

Pretty much what the title of the thread says...any good books regarding strength (olympic lifting, powerlifting , etc) and conditioning?

A few that come to mind are SS, Westside book of methods, practical programming...

Good nutrition books can be added as well

For training: Anything by Rip, Westside/EliteFTS, and Ross Enamait (Coach Sommer for Gymnastics).

For body composition nutrition (as separate from the whole quality debate): I think Tom Venuto is good for basic nutrition set ups. Lyle McDonald, Alan Aragon, Bĝrge Fagerli and Martin Berkhan are great for more advanced reading.

I am still not sure about John Kiefer, but some of my bodybuilder friends swear by his carb backloading stuff.

Martin Rooney for MMA, Beyond Brawn Stuart McRobert, anything written by Dr. McGill for back and movement syndromE and disorders by Shirley Sahrmann.

If we are talking strength training and programming -

Any of Rippetoe's books are good for newbs, particularly PP and SS
I will second 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler

here are a few on my wish list:

- Dinasour Training - Brooks Kubic
- Under the Bar - Dave Tate
- Never Let Go - Dan John
- Science & Practice of Strength Training - Vladimir Zat . . . (however you spell it, maybe)
- and when I have $200 to drop on a book - Ed Coan, the Man, Myth Legend - Marty Gallager

"Power", "Bodybuilding", and "Powerlifting" by Dr. Frederick Hatfield. My dad made me read "Bodybuilding" and "Powerlifting" before he'd let me into the gym. Oddly enough, he didn't do that for my sister...

Some of the research and theory is outdated, but the biology is still pretty solid, as far as I know.

I also like Arnold's "New Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding". I know bodybuilding isn't all that popular, but there's a lot of variations in there on some exercises.

I also have a couple books on plyometrics by Dr. Donald Chu, "Jumping Into Plyometrics", and "Plyometric Exercises with the Medicine Ball, 2nd ed."

Lastly, I have "101 Agility Drills" by Patrick McHenry. Definitely a lot of good stuff in that one.

I'd recommend Stuart McRobert's "Brawn" and "Insider's Tell-All Handbook on Weight-Training Technique" over "Beyond Brawn". "Brawn" is already very tedious, but "Beyond Brawn" is about 4x more tedious.

The below is just a list of books that I can think of off the top of my head. Most of my S&C books are boxed away right now. I didn't include any books on nutrition, but I'd basically agree with Dmitri's list for nutrition. I'm not a fan of Kiefer, however.

Basic
- Joel Jamieson's "Ultimate MMA Conditioning"
- Mike Tuscherer's "The Reactive Training Manual"
- Frederick Delavier's "The Strength Training Anatomy Workout" and "The Strength Training Anatomy Workout II"
- Greg Everett's "Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide for Athlete's & Coaches"
- The Science of Sport Blog guys' and Matt Fitzgerald's "The Runner's Body: How the Latest Exercise Science Can Help You Run Stronger, Longer, and Faster"

Intermediate
- NSCA's "Essentials of Strength and Conditioning" - Not very practical but has basic exercise exercise stuff in it
- Christian Thibaudeau's "The Black Book of Training Secrets" and "Theory and Application of Modern Strength and Power Methods"
- Arthur Drechsler's "The Weightlifting Encyclopedia"
- Issurin's "Block Periodization" and "Block Periodization 2"
- Verkhoshansky's "Block Training System in Endurance Running"
- Pavel's "Power to the People Professional"

Advanced
- Jack Daniel's "Daniel's Running Formula"
- Tudor Bompa's "Periodization: Theory and Methodology of Training"
- Verkhoshansky's "Special Strength Training: Manual for Coaches"
- Bondarchuck's "Transfer of Training in Sports" and "Transfer of Training in Sports: Vol. II"
- Marco Cardinale, et al "Strength and Conditioning: Biological Principles and Practical Applications"

Edit: Kelly Baggett has good stuff on strength training, mass building, and nutrition/diets.

I think the only books/author's I don't see mentioned but are must haves would be 5/3/1 & GSLP (though both have loads of meterial online), and FIT by Lon Kilgore, Michael Hartman and Justin Lascek. I think between FIT, SS, and Olympic Weightlifting for coached & athletes, you would have a pretty solid base of knowledge for CF related efforts.
