Love the new CrossFit Total concept. But, shouldn't we divide the total score by some multiple to take into account body weight? Or, just divide by the bodyweight. I.e., I have a client that weighs 225lbs. Based on the CrossFit Total, his total is 805. I am only 165lbs and my total is 725.

If I divide the totals by bodyweight, my client's is 3.57; mine is 4.4. His total is higher, but my ratio is better when accounting for bodyweight.

This is covered on the comments page.

But my feelings are as follows. It is the Crossfit Total. Total. As in Total weight lifted. Not the Crossfit Ratio of weight lifted to bodyweight.

I'm with Andy, though at first I thought as you do. Basically, think of it as a powerlifting total, but with the bench press replaced by the strict press (for the reasons listed in the CFJ).

Still, best if the discussion gets an in depth conversation on the boards as there's that great "search" feature that the comments section cannot offer.

Rippetoe prefers you compare your CFT to yourself, not to others. The question being asked (and I haven't seen the answer) is will CFT be used to scale various WODs for yourself in the future.

Say for example the "standard" CFT will be 800. Your percentage of the standard applies to the various Ladies. Not sure if this is the ultimate goal but it makes sense.

I discussed this concept at some length on 12/2 and 12/3 (thought I was pretty smart and terribly erudite, too:lol:). Rip's response was short and clear (he didn't find me nearly as brilliant as I found myself!): the CFT is a pure measure of your strength in a strict, regimented format. Nothing more, nothing less. :giveup:.
