Re: Milt's Log II

Sept 6, 2016

Been off for a bit...I have developed some over-use issues in my knees, and a bit in the elbows. Likely from trying to keep up with the youngin's at the gym! Started to back off a bit, lightened the load tonight and going to try to focus more on mobility.

10 min EMOM
min 1: 24" box step-ups x 8
min 2: 12 hollow rocks

5 Rounds:
3 Min AMRAP
9 Russian KB Swings 32/24
6 Goblet Squats 32/24
3 Burpees
1 min rest
Rounds: 2+16/2+15/2+4/2/2 - total 215 reps - really hating life at the end of this one!

3 rounds:
2 wall-walks/5 wall balls

Thrusters 3,3,3,3,3
Loads: 95#, 115, 125, 145, 155 - kept the weight down, focus on moving properly. Still trying to back off a little on my bum knees.

4 rounds:
15 front squat 115#
15 pull-ups
15 push-ups
time: 16:40 - had to really gut that last round out. Left with virtually no pain. Fewer work outs and taking it a little easier seems to be helping me heal.

Wise decision. Always tricky trying to keep up with youngsters. Nice to see you back on here logging again. Hope life is treating you well, Calgary is a tough place to be right now. I see you are doing school, what are you taking ? I know previously you were in project management. That new gym you go to is has one of Mikey's big time clients at it Zach Carlin, guy is a beast and back to training. I wanna see him at Regionals again this year I think he could make some noise.

Jason! Still looking in, nice!

I have definitely let my intensity get the best of me, now I have to slow down to try and heal-up…frustrating, but its gotta be done.

I was a project manager, and actually still am. I just work I the civil service now, managing federal infrastructure projects…I am going to school, working on a degree in economics, planning on graduate studies eventually – law or public policy….maybe even architecture, I will see what I think of construction in a few years.
Yeah, its cool having Zach Carlin as a coach! I knew him from his days at AI, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him for the first time at 956. Definitely a beast, too! Top 5 regional finisher and I would bank on him being a Games athlete next year! He is in the Granite Games this weekend as well (he had a 6th place finish there a couple years ago).

Back at it. I was the only one to show up for the class tonight, so I decided to go with some weightlifting. Really worked on mobility to start as well.

2 min assault bike: 23cal

155 x 3 (jerk last rep)
185 x 3 (jerk on all reps)

Clean and jerk singles
Loads: 205#, 205, 225, 235, 245(missed)

Power snatch
135# x 3

Snatch singles
Loads: 135#, 145, 155, 165(2 misses), 175(1 for 2), 185(0 for 2), 155, 155

Power Clean and jerk
155# x 4

Lots of reps tonight. Good reps. Even the missed reps were pretty solid.

Re: Milt's Log II

Sept 24, 2016

In for a quick weightlifting session...

5 min on assault bike and some leg mobility

Power snatch: 155# x 4
Snatch singles: 155#, 165(x,x,x), 175(x,x), 185(x), 185, 195, 205(x,x) - lots of fails, but got more weight than last time!

Power Clean: 205# x 3
Power clean & Jerk: 205#
Clean & Jerk: 225#, 235(x), 205 - exhausted! called it there...

A lot of missed lifts today, head wasnt really there like last time....felt kind of rushed today, and I had my kids with me. So, that I still got 13 good lifts is a minor victory. Will hit the rower tonight after the kids are in bed maybe...
