Selection bias. You never heard from the potential clients who cared.

Yes, I agree upon further introspection.

BTW, where did you find the "mash up" song during your football slam vid?

Thanks, Kim!

I think I might have found it on this site: http://djearworm.com/category/frontpage/ (mostly WFS, may have some objectionable lyrics if you play the songs)

Will hunt some more later and see if I can find the exact site I used. Off to work now.

Re: Marketing

Some thoughts on marketing for everyone to ponder. These are some thoughts that I shared with other affiliates at the VB Level 2 cert.

#1:

Website. In a digital age, this will become the most prevalent marketing tool for you. People dont view websites as advertisements, they see them as a gateway into your life and business. More often than not, your website will be your first meeting with someone.

#2:

SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. And it is the key to reaching high(organic) ranking in the search engines, effectively exposing more people to your business as they search for specific keywords. I would like to see some flyers do that for you.

#3:

Perception of value. Exploit Crossfit's perception of value. Market it as "personal fitness coaching/training" not as a "gym". Certain buzzwords generate a negative or positive connotation on the consumers eyes in reference to your business. You can either turn them on, or turn them off.

On a separate tangent: Too few conversation is about rate of return on your marketing dollars. In the fitness industry, as a standard, you have to spend at least $10k to see a decent rate of return on your money spent on marketing. Food for thought.

AS for what has worked for me:

#1 CrossFit website

#2 Search Engine Organic Rankings

#3 Word of Mouth from Myself or Clientele

#4 Localized Marketing

Re: Marketing

I have to admit though, I can count on one hand how many "quality" or "good" websites IMO that I've seen from the 400+ CrossFit affiliates. For how much people tout this as being their major marketing tool, most of them could use some serious help.

Its all a matter of importance to the individual.

Some people prefer to do their own website and save the cheese.

But then again, alot of the people on the board would rather make their own rings than buy some.

Re: Marketing

John - scrap photos like this (I counted 3 on the main page - the DB and one behind mailing list) and put up your own. It'll look and feel much better immediately imo.
