...that I was going to boast about her, my wife would kill me. We started working with Cerrito Hill a couple of months ago, mostly on O lifts. So Tues we get a heads up from our Coaches Steve and Maya that we're going to do deadlifts. So before we leave home for the Gym Lily asks me "what are deadlifts?" Long story - short, Lily at age 53 and 115 lbs deadlifts 165lbs on her FIRST DAY!!! Steve and Maya dont think it is her 1 rep max, they were playing it safe. Anyway, if you worry (like I do) about passing out in a burning house - get your wife into Crossfit it will give you peace of mind

Nice work!

Thanks for risking life and limb to post the boast, Alan.

Nice work. I, too, post behind the wife's back. I'm just happy she's trying some of this stuff. If my wife could DL her bodyweight, I'd sleep with one eye open!!! :uhoh:

If you are going to Cerrito Hill for O-lifting, I'll throw a little gasoline on the fire for you:

Assuming good O-lift technique, 165 lb. deadlift roughly translates into a 52.5kg clean & jerk.

The U.S. National Master's record for your wife's weight/age class is 45kg in the snatch, 50kg in the clean & jerk.

The next qualifying meet in your area (no total required, just show up to lift) is:
Oct 30 41st Annual Golden West Open Physique Magnifique,
S. San Francisco, CA Jim Schmitz 650/583-8648

That would qualify her to compete in the National Masters in March. The World Games are in July.

Ask the little lady if she'd be interested in being a national champion and record holder. No kidding. She could do this.
