Evaluate this new starter please i.e. me!

Hi there - relatively new to this and without much of a reference point as to where I am good, bad, ugly etc.

Please let me bullet point some statistics:
  1. New to crossfit and weight training in general
  2. Played a very hig level of rugby and was always fit, however, I avoided weights like the plague
  3. Havent played sport due to injury for 5 yrs
  4. I am now 33
  5. Married with a baby so training time is relatively limited
  6. Height = 5'11
  7. weight = 220
  8. I believe that my ideal weight should be 185 (ish)
  9. Single deadlife = 340
  10. pull ups = 4 dead hang very strict
  11. running = 3 miles in 22 mins
  12. Bench = 200lbs for 3 reps

Like I say - I would dearly value your educated thoughts on my current abilities and where I should head towards...

Thank you

Re: Evaluate this new starter please i.e. me!

Start with the Main Page WOD's and scale them via Brand X (look under "start here" on the main page). You have a decent base of strength and running so you should be able to get into the swing of crossfit pretty quickly.
Better to start with the workout being a bit too easy, than it being too hard.
Also, try every other day at first, then two on, one off, then three on, one off.
Good luck and start today!

Yea, just start with the mainpage and scale when necessary. You got your nutrition sorted as well?

Goals, what are they? How much do you sleep and how rested do you feel? WHat do you eat and how much of it? WHat position did you play and for whom? WHat was the injury and what is it's current state?

Re: Evaluate this new starter please i.e. me!

Thanks for your comments... in answer to some of your questions:

1. diet probably in awful state - 3 days a week perfect, 4 days a week far from perfect

2. sleep is very distorted - i sleep for 7 hours every night but the times that go to sleep and wake up can range hugely fr4om 20:30 to 1am and up at 5am - 8am

3. played hooker (rugby league) - full time for 2 years and semi pro for 8

4. injuries = 3 cruciate reconstructions (full reconstructions) / disc issues of neck and back / very big (in relative terms) plate in arm - none really affect me today other than [a] the arm is weaker [b] just general wear and tear
