Hi i'm new here: 50-100 pullups are you fracking kidding?

I'm new to the crossfit world and i'm doing my best to follow the WOD's of the day but holy crap on a popsicle stick, "50-100 pullups"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOD's should read:

Conjure the power of Zeus and rip a treek trunk out of the ground with your teeth.

No wonder you freaks are in such good shape. I suppose i need to train like a regular human being before i even attempt these demonic WOD's.

You could try the scaled workouts at brandxmartialarts.com. Every day's WOD is scaled there in different sections based on where you feel you are...
Have fun.

Go to the "Start Here" link on the left of the main page - go to BrandX for scaled versions. LOTS of us do....

Think of the WODs as something to be achieved rather than something you should be able to do on Day 1.

Or if like most people and you're too proud to scale a WOD as you're all new and enthusiastic and stuff... then bare in mind you don't have to do the 50-100 pull-ups in one unbroken set. If you can do 5 pull-ups in a row, do 5, rest for as long as you need to then do another 5 and so on until you hit the desired number. The workouts like this are done for time, so you can theoretically take 14 hours to do it if you don't want to scale

This is how I did it when I started... but I was also sore for the first MONTH of cross fitting as well!

David is right,

I am not going to scale unless I cannot lift my body off the ground. Downside is that I have never been so sore.

Re: Hi i'm new here: 50-100 pullups are you fracking kidding?

I'm mainly a runner and i thought crossfit was a great way for me to incorporate some strength training. LOoks like i'll be able to tear a man in half after i do this for about a year. Also would like to add how impressed i am with the general crossfit community. You guys are extremely helpful and kind. Glad to be apart of this craziness.

You need to remember that not only is it a strength / endurance issue its a total fitness issue, meaning you need the coordination / technique to perform good kipping pullups. Get stronger definitely, but have gorgeous form to go with it

So form above all else. Got it. I'm studying these exercise videos and let me reiterate that all of you are a bunch of freaks of nature.
