A guy on Craigslist says he has a Model C, bought new from Concept2, and he'd be willing to part with it for $450. His pic, however, shows a Model D, and he said he bought it 18 months ago and it was "whatever they were selling new from the site then."

From the Concept2 website, it looks like they've been producing the Model D only since 2003. Is $450 for a fairly new Model D a pretty good deal? I'm thinking it is.

Just sent him an email. I have the day off of work since I'm sick, so I might run up there and get it if he gets back to me in time.

That's an excellent deal - I just got a C2 D with a PM3 for $550 and thought I'd hung the moon. Get it before it's gone...

I think I'm going to be glued to my computer for the rest of the day waiting for this guy to email me back. I just hope he won't say he already sold it. I have not had good luck with Craigslist so far.

Is a Model C any good? Somebody is selling for $750. Should I pick it up if I can get it for $350-$400? What is the differenve between a Model C & D?

The Model C is very good; check out some of the other threads on this subject as well as the Concept 2 website itself. I think the basic differences are it has a "less sophisticated" monitor and the handle is just a straight piece of wood instead of the slightly more ergonomic piece of plastic. The Model C is what I was looking for since you can sometimes get them for ~$300 or less (excellent price). I don't think I'd pay more than $500 total for one, though. You can also upgrade them to effectively turn them into a Model D for not a whole lot of extra money (upgrade the handle, monitor, etc.).

I have a used Model C and it's great. It's not as pretty looking as the D, and it's also louder, but it works just fine. You can upgrade them also - I put a new handlebar and replaced a bunch of parts on mine when I got it, to refurbish it. You can upgrade the computers if you want, also.
