Day off on Thursday. Boat work, she is being difficult again. So much work, hopefully we can get her back in the groove soon. Leaving on a 1000 mile journey to Oregon and back in 12 days.

Going to do Wodapolluza #7 workout tonight.
Every 2 min
8 burpee facing box jump overs
8 hand snatches 95#
8 thrusters 95#

Hopefully I can do 10 rounds.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Friday- good solid warm up. Rower felt good. Seem fresh. Normal warm up with some extra hammie.

Warm up burpee to step over box felt good. 8 reps in under :40
Warm up hang snatch- have felt better, bar was a little heavy.
Warm up thrusters up to 95#

2:00 emom
8 burpee box step overs
8 hang hang snatch 95#
8 thrusers 95#

The goal was to get thru 10 rounds and just stop.

R1 had about :40 rest feeling ok but winded
R2 had about :35 rest negotiating with myself. Trying to stay in the moment
R3 had about :35 rest at the end. Starting to second guess if I can do this
R4 :30 seconds rest. This workout is piling up fast.
R5 :25 seconds rest. Negative thoughts going thru my head. Wanting to stop
R6 :20 seconds well thinking want to stop but can't
R7 :20 seconds head down during rest period
R8 first break in hang snatches and the thrusters- oh no its getting difficult
R9 dropped into cement on the ground. Wow the legs were going so was the negotiations in my head. If I could have said get thru this round and rest on the next one then would have done it. But my head was telling my body to break and chill, rest, stop, give up... well came up 3 reps shy of getting into the 10th round. Was in some pain for about 10 min. I rested against the ghd and got my old man gear off. Knee sleeves and the wrist guards. Total score 213 reps. I think that it will be an ok score. My grunt work fellow competitor got a 212. We will see.

Cool down, accessory work and then chill at home.

Saturday- quick warm up- row, aab, ski erg, hamstrings.
10 sets of 1 clean, 1 hang clean, 1 split jerk- 135-205

Front squat all sets of 5- 135,185,215,245

Partner workout with Coach Corey-
40,40,40,40,40 AA bike
10,8,6,4,2 rope climbs (alternating)

15 min.. was a hard one.

Cool down. About 90 min in the gym.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Sunday was the day off. Just worked on the boat, chilled and watched movies. Hope she is running by the time I head to Oregon.

Should have called her Miss-B-haven!

Headed into the gym at Noon for workout #6 last one. 8 min row. Will be a tough one mentally. I think that mentally will have to push outside my comfort zone. No new news on that front. I believe that I would do 1 meter and qualify. But I want to see my eagerness level, my mental state on pushing harder. I have made some progress. But the good news is that I have so much more to give. I really need to tap into my higher power more.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Monday Noon-
Shortened warm up- bunch of rowing ramping it up. I have never done a 2k and this is more like a 2.25k. Originally I was thinking just stick at 1:46 per 500. But in warm up just don't have at this point what it takes to do this. I averaged about 1:48 fell about 40 meters short of my goal of 2,250. Just 8 seconds. I went out 1:49 pace for the first 6 min. Then dropped to 1:46 then 1:44 for the last min or so. I am happy with the effort but I was not that tired at the end. No agony or rolling around. Just a paced effort that gets me 30 points. I did have someone hula hoop in front of me and my boy Tony who came and did the workout with me. He did a 2213 hehe. I really need to do some 1k, 2k, 5k and 10k efforts. I have been rowing a bunch but its normally warm up, cool down and more like 200-300 efforts. Anyway I was exposed 3 almost 4 times out of 8. I believe that I will be in the top 3 of a totally stacked field. I think that I am going to get a flu shot and get it over with this year. I was sick for a month leading up to the open last year.

Hope my boy Eric comes for some accessory work tonight.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Took the day off from the gym. Had to help the mechanic work on the boat engine. I have my projects going also. This boat is like no other that I have owned. Symptoms don't lead you down the right path. Might put her up for sale and roll the dice on another, smaller, faster and newer model... still wooden.

I did an inventory on my crossfit progress- 1) I used to wear an undershirt while competing and working out. Not really sure why, but it had to be the right one, Reebok, fit perfect etc. Now I really don't care what shirt I wear as long as its comfortable.

More to follow.

Vic, congratulations on second place... I am so impressed..

When do you receive confirmation of the results?

What’s wrong with the boat? Not running right?

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Alex,
Thank you. I looked over the other old guys and they are really solid. Many Games athletes and near making the games. Several athletes like me who aged up this year. Some strong guys, some metcon guys.. you name it.

2 clean and jerk workouts and an 8 min row doesn't really give a big picture. I enjoyed seeing some goats and know that I need work. That was the best part. Getting nearly all of my points in 3 workouts. Hehe. No hs walks, no heavy snatch.. hope that they pour in much of them in the actual event in Miami.

The boat.. well we have changed everything but her underwear. Now learned that the spark plug wires being metal caused the electronic ignition to fail again. So over night a new one, change the wires and hopefully it works. What a pain she is. I have picked out my new boat. Trying for a trade and give him some $$. I am putting the boat on the market. I had a boat like this 20 years ago and ended up selling it and getting a modern wooden boat with a newer motor and system. I love boating again. I hate to get up in the morning but I love to take her out for sunrise outings.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Wed- met with Seth and did some accessory work. Cross over hammer kb presses, bird feeders, hip circle, glute ham raises, more bird feeders, lat pulls on the ghd- 45-85#, strict pu and c2b, strict t2b.

Rowing practice. Trying a new start... did not like it. About 2k worth of rowing, AA Bike 100 cal and then cleaned up the trash and went home to chill.

Getting a break, day off today and then going back on Friday for class.

Saturday with Tony, Sunday with Reese, Monday with Eric, Tuesday AM with Tony and PM with a new kid in Alpine, and if the boat is fixed headed up to Oregon on Wed for a week.
