Tim 2008 - The Importance Of Consistency

New journal time. I'm frustrated because right now I am in the exact same place, fitness-wise, that I was a year ago (still can't do "Linda" as rx'ed). This is despite making great progress last spring, because I didn't keep working out consistently and watching my diet appropriately. There are lots of excuses, but really I can't accept any of them. So basically, 2007 taught me the importance of staying consistent, and here's my 2008 goals:

1. Keep working out consistently. Specifically this means that I must work out at least 2 days in a row, preferably 3. Never work out just one day, then take a rest day. Never take more than one rest day at a time.
2. Stay away from chocolate, candy, cake, cookies, donuts, and so forth. Alcohol consumption kept to a minimum. Lean towards meat, fish, eggs, milk, nuts, veggies, fruit, and water, period (as much as possible given the fact I have 3 little kids and sometimes you just do whatever you can).

Here's 1/1/08:
"Lung Buster"
5-10-15-20-25 rep rounds of:
-box jumps, 20"
-double unders
-burpees
-wall ball, 20 lb ball
-shoulder 50 lb sandbag

Finished in 30:34.

1/2/08:

AMRAP, 20 minutes:
-5 pullups
-5 dips

I finished 16 rounds. Since I worked out on the 31st, I have now done 3 days in a row, so so far so good!

Sounds like fun! You go, Tim! I know what you mean about consistency. I've spent my life starting and re-starting my best intentions but have managed to change my life over and over and I'm getting better at it - in direct proportion to how well I do the consistency part.

My email has the tag line: consistency is the key to victory. I also believe it is the key to success. Like I said, you go, guy! Thanks for posting.

Delita, thanks for stopping in! I totally agree with your tagline.

1/9/08:
Cindy
AMRAP, 20 minutes:
-5 pullups
-10 pushups
-15 squats

The last time I did Cindy was 9/6/07, and I got 9 rounds plus 8 pushups. This morning I got 11 whole rounds, so that's a success. Pretty happy to be in double digits at last.

Re: Tim 2008 - The Importance Of Consistency

1/13/08:

-about 1 hour 45 minutes shovelling wet snow

deadlift singles - 135, 185, 225, 255, 285, 315, 335, 345, 365, 385, 405, 415 PR

I got a couple 25 lb rubber plates in the mail yesterday and wanted to play with them, so did a little snatch practice too:

snatch 45, 45, 65, 65, 85, 85, 95, 95 miss, 95 miss, powersnatch / ohs 95, snatch 95 miss, 95 hit

It seems that right at that 95 lb level I always miss it until I get mad enough to get enough momentum and elevation on the bar, then I hit the lift.
