Hi all! I'm brand new! I've been reading about paleo and cross fit all week, and tomorrow morning I'm going to my first intro class. I'm nervous and excited.

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

hi ladies,

i'm just joined crossfit boston 2 weeks ago, so i thought i'd introduce myself.

i've been a long distance (mostly 1/2 marathons) runner for about 15 years. over two years ago, i started training with kettlebells RKC-style, and really loved the higher weights and intensity. i've been eating mostly primal/paleo for over a year now, and am loving that as well; i have so much more energy, feel replenished and am not starving all of the time (which was the case with carbo-loading and long distance running). i've been really enjoying the workouts and the atmosphere at our gym. i look forward to every single workout!

so... hi!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

HI Ariel and Kelly!!

My shoulder has been bothering me off and on but it is doing better and I'm trying to increase some of the flexibility which I think is what is causing the problem. I did something this week that I've never done, went 5 days in a row. I've done 5 times in a week a couple times but never in a row.

We were doing some crazy workout which consisted of snatches, push presses, pullups, deadlifts and what not. Anyway, I can't snatch much weight but I'm working on trying to get my form down. I had 53 lbs for the snatch and figured I'd do the same for the push presses. I look up and realize that we have 45 push presses to do in a row. I thought my shoulder might bother me but no it behaved

A few weeks I PR'd my deadlifts at 213 lbs which I was extremely happy about. I was happy to break the 200 lb barrier but I'm looking forward to continue going up and up

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

I had my intro session this past Thursday... my legs are still sore.

I plan on going tonight, but feel a little bit intimidated by being the person who is the most out of shape there.

When I had my first WOD, which I did before the intro session, I could hardly walk for about 4 days after. It was embarrassing to say the least.

When I started out, I knew I was one of the most out of shape people there, but I just kept telling myself that everyone has to start somewhere and at least I was trying to improve myself.
