Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Hi Girls! I've been lurking for the most part. I just wanted to pop in. I did Murph today, with modified pushups/pullups and it took me 71 minutes. One of the trainers came up to before the workout and told me he didn't want me to go beyond 75 minutes so the plan was to stop at 60 minutes and then do the run. Luckily, I finished all the reps before that point and kind of ambled my way through a mile but I did it

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

So, for those if you that can do muscle ups, is it just a matter of practicing muscle ups or did you establish a set number of pull-ups and ring dips before moving on to the muscle up?

I can do around 10 strict pull ups but only 2 or 3 ring dips in a row. Is this sufficient to progress to working on muscle ups? I've never really tried them before.

There was a pretty cool video of Kristan Clever doing them the other day on the mainsite.

I'm still working my way up to my first kipping pull-up. Hope to join y'all's muscle up club eventually! I think I'd lose motivation if I didn't have this board to read.

Oops. I was typing this on my new phone and I meant to say "I"don't have a darn ring dip yet. Sorry!
Keep the spirit ladies. We all can do whatever we believe we can do and then put in the training necessary! Believe and achieve!!!!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

I don't have ring dips at all but I can do a couple muscle-ups. Don't ask me how. I can lock out at the top of a muscle-up with a good kip but once I'm there I can't get in some dips. I'm not sure if i am just weird or what. But I sure wouldn't avoid trying some muscle-ups until you get more dips. That's just me. Maybe on of the certified trainers would give different advice. It did hurt like hell when I first started the muscle-ups. But I couldn't let the guys I work out with get them before me!!!!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Hi all! Just found this forum and thought I would say hi!
I've been doing crossfit for about a year now- though I can only fit in a few days a week with my schedule (wish I could do it more!).

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

I've been reading but not posting lately. All good stuff, girls!

Cute, cute shirts if you need some:
http://www.gorilla-pit.com/gear (WFS)

"Stronger Than Your husband" and "Real Women Real Boobs Real Strong."

Oh, as for muscle ups, start training them with bands and working some of the progressions regardless of how many pullups and dips you have. Everyone is different. I can't remember for sure, but I think I had 10 strict pullups and 5-7 ring dips when I hit my first muscle up, but I could have hit one before that. It was all technique.
